Alternative Learning Experience
Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) programs provided by WA state school districts generally offers money to pay for extra curriculum activities etc, and/or "FREEBIES". These programs are NOT governed by WA State Home-Based Education laws under RCW 28A.200.
Families who participate in these programs must answer to the school district and/or district teachers. WA State Home-Based Education laws under RCW 28A.200 DO NOT require homeschool families to report to school officials!
You are entitled to receive a "STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING" which explains the difference between "independent" homeschooling and Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) programs.

- iSchool for high schoolers
- Mid-Columbia Parent Partnership / Parent Partner Program
- The Washington Virtual Academy - WAVA
- Three Rivers Home-Link

Beware of programs offering perks such as:
- Tuition Free
- Free complete curriculum
- Textbooks and materials
- Money to pay for supplies and/or extra curriculum activities
- Educational tools - Free Computers
- Online School
- Guidance from a certified teacher
